She will resume for Auckland via ports about tho end of next. week. The? Kahika left Lyttelton this morning for Dunedin. She is tine here early to-morrow, and will sail the same day for Napier and Gisborne via ports. Tho Manuka was to leave Melbourne to-day for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. For Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin the Katoa will load at Auckland about Wednesday. Tho Breeze , is due hero late, to-night for Timaru, and will sail on Saturday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. Tho Calm should roach here on Tuesday from Bluff. She will'sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The West Calera will sail from Vancouver on June 17, Seattle on June 23, San Francisco on Juno 30, and Los Angeles on July 3 for Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. She will ho followed by tho Dewey, the Montagu, the West Islip, tho West Henshaw, and West Conob at intervals of three weeks. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Mararoa, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 7.50 a.m. to-day, and passengers and mails connected with the first express. MAH ANA ARRIVES. An arrival at Port Chalmers yesterday morning was the Shaw, Savill, and Albion lane Company's steamer Mahana, from Liverpool via north New Zealand ports. For her recent voyage the Mahana loaded at Glasgow and Liverpool, and after embarking her passengers at. the last-named port, sailed for New Zealand on April 13. For the first four days at .sea the Steamer battled against strong westerly gales and high head seas, but although waves frequently broke on board and I Hooded tho docks no damage was done, j the steamer being very buoyant. conditions, and arrived at Colon on April 29. She passed through the Panama Canal and sailed from Balboa on the same day. A fine weather run was made across the Pacific until May 15, when fresh easterly winds and rough seas were encountered. The Kairanga is to load at Eclithhnrg and Adelaide about the end of June for New Plymouth, Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. THE CITY OF BOAIBAY. The City of Bombay is expected from Lyttelton about Tuesday next. NORFOLK LEAVES LIVERPOOL. Cable advice received states that the Norfolk left Liverpool on June 5 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on Julv 12, and at Dunedin about July 26." BARON KELVIN TO LOAD. Tho Baron Kelvin arrived at Sydney (Capo Breton) on June 3 to commence loading for New Zealand ports. WJRRAL FROM MONTREAL. Cable news has been received that the steamer Wirral left Montreal on June 4 with general cargo to discharge at Auckland, 'Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. TASAIANIA HOAIE. According to a cable message received the Tasmania arrived at London on June 7 from Wellington. 'The vessel loft Wellington on April 21 for London via Montevideo and Las Palmas.

ADMIRALTY TUGS. According io the, ' Commercial News and Shipping List,’ the ex-Admiraity tugs—St. Hilary, St. Mabyn, and St. Aristell—have left .London for Sydney. After the war a largo fleet of powerful tugs were built for tho Admiralty, hut many were placed on the market. Several hare found their way to Commonwealth ports, the St. Giles, St. Glares, and Lindficid (ex St. Claude) being employed in Sydney Harbor, the St. Ertli at Newcastle; while the St. Kitts is now on her way to Adelaide, OLD SAILERS PURCHASED. Information has been received in Sydney that tho sailers Star of Pern and Star of Russia have been purchased from the Alaska Packers’ Association by Burns, Pliilp, and Co., Ltd., and are intended for Australia. It is believed that the vessels have been purchased with the idea of converting them into hulks. The Star of Pern is an iron barque of 976 tons nett register, and was built at Sunderland in 1363 by Messrs Pile, Hay, and Co. ’ She was formerly known as the Himalaya, and under the British (lag made many voyages from the United Kingdom to Australia with general cargo. Later she was employed on the Pacific Const in tho lumber business, eventually passing into the hands of the Alaska Packers’ Association, and has boon running in the salmon trade over since. The Star of Russia, also formerly a Britisher under the same name, is an iron ship of 1898 tons net register, and was built by ILirlnml and Wolff, Ltd., in 1874.
