ANCIENT SYNAGOGUE

TO BE EXCAVATED. NEW YORK, May 10. An expedition to excavate the ruined Synagogue of Cherazin, ono of tlio oldcst in history, which is on a rocky summit 900 ft above the bea. of Galilee, will bo financed by the Free Synagogue, it was announced. The synagogue was built in 135 A.P., when Roman persecutions had driven tbe Jews from Jerusalem, and a. temple to Jupiter was built on the site. The expedition was suggested by Dr J. L. Magnes. Professor Carstand (curator of the British Archroological Museum in Palestine), and Dr Leo Mayor (of the Oriental School in Jerusalem) will be in charge of the work.
