The Manuka left Melbourne at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday for Bluff and Dunedin via. Milford Sound, with passengers and cargo. She is listed to airive at and leave Dunedin on Friday. The Ofira is to leave Wellington this evening fur Lyttelton and Dunedin to unload the remainder of her general cargo from Liverpool. She is expected here about the beginning of next week. The Tainni left Wellington this morning for Lyttelton to disembark southern passengers and to commence discharge of her inward cargo. Sin? is due here nr the beginning of next week to finish unloading and to continue loading. THE FEBBY SERVICE. The Wnhine, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.40 a.in. to-day, and passengers and mails connected with the 8.50 a.m. express. THE VANCOUVER. LINE. The Union Company’s R.M.M.S. Aorangi arrived at Auckland early yesterday morning, and was to sail today for Vancouver via Suva and Honolulu. The R.M.S. Niagara left Vancouver at noon on Wednesday, is due at Honolulu on Wednesday, at Suva on February 2G, and at Auckland on .March ]. She will leave Auckland on March 2 for Sydney.

The Wairuna leaves Melbourne _ on February 17 for Newcastle and Sydney to complete discharge ot Pacific Coast cargo. She loaves Sydney on February 22 for San Francisco via Fiji. The Willaston (chartered steamer) loft New Plymouth on Monday for Newcastle. The Waiotapu leaves Auckland next week for Wellington, and alter unloading part cargo, proceeds to Melbourne and Sydney to complete discharge. The Waitematn, which left San Francisco on February 7 for Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Timaru, and New Plymouth, is due at Napier about March 4. The Maurnki, now loading at Vancouver, leaves Powell River to-day for San Francisco to complete loading for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney. The Waihemo left Lyttelton on February d for Vancouver direct. Having undergone extensive alterations at Messrs Garland and Wolffs yard, the White Star Line steamer Delphic left Liverpool for Australian ports on December 10. A vessel of about 8,000 tons gross, she lias been brought into compliance with the latest Board of Trade requirements, and specially adapted to. and equipped tor, the White Star Australian trade. Considerable spaces have been insulated for the carriage of meat and fruit. There are eight watertight bulkheads, a.ml the double bottom, which extends fore and aft. is arranged to carry fresh and ballast, water. Ample provision has been made for the efficient handling of cargo. The propelling machinery, which was removed, overhauled, and refitted, consists of two sets of triple-expansion engines, designed for a working pressure of 2001 b per square inch. The air. feed, and bilge pumps are worked off the main engine, the remaining auxiliaries being independent. Steam is generated on three double-ended cylindrical boilers under forced draught. WEST COAST TRADE. The service to West Coast ports was the. subject of a letter road last evening from the council of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce from the Dunedin branch of the Union Steam Ship Company. It arose over protests of the inadequacy of the service. The present arrangement, it, was said, was to provide two sailings each month, but owing to bad weather it was not always possible to provide sailings at regular intervals. He (the writer) had. however, been authorised where intervals between sailings became too lengthy, to accent urgent cargo for' transhipment, at Wellington at direct steamer rates. There were not so many steamers going from Dunedin to the Coast ns in former years, hot they would give shippers the, opportunity of taking advantage of any steamers that might be proceeding there.
