TOKIO, February 2. (Received February 3, at 1.30 a.in.) It is understood that a satisfactory compromise is expected shortly by which the German and Japanese commercial treaty negotiations, which have been at a standstill fur several months on the red dye-stuff question, will be concluded. It is understood that the terms are likely to include, firstly, a “gentleman’s agreement” concerning red dye-stuffs, on which there would bo specified restrictions in regard to reimports; secondly, a fixed tariff on all imports from Germany, according to whet tier the goods are procurable in Japan or not.—Reuter.
