Iho attendance was not as good as last year, and tho track was vciy- hard, ihe racing was not interesting on account of the smallness of the holds, excepting tho trotting races. D. Hussey, driver of Dolly Horn in the Upper Clutha Trot, was fined £5 for dosing in too soon. Tho sum of £3,5/1) was handled by the totalisator as compared with £3,761 last year. Rossano was withdrawn from the Goldfields Hack Race, 6f, and Earnsclough (Kilbroncy—Petrovna, nddon by T. Metcalf), who won at tho Hawca Flat Mooting was sent out a better favorite than Bonhopo, only this pair being backed. From a moving in start the field went away on even terms, and Earncleugh and Bdnhope at once drew out and led to two and a-haif furlongs from home, where the latter was done with and Clutha ran into second place. Clutha and Quickform led to the approach to tho homo turn, where Wild Berry was lying dose up. Clutha crossed over turning for homo, and rater fered with tho favorite and Wild Berry, who was nearly put over the rails. An inquiry was hdd into the crossing, and the Judicial Committee found that the crossing by Clutha did not affect the result of the race, and the judge’s placing was not disturbed, Sinclair, the ridor of Clutha was suspeded for the remainder of the meeting. Gladwell, with a reputation of being a 2.20 mare, on the limit, was made a hot favorite in the Kawaraa Saddle Trot, l)m, with Gold Chimes, Sheila Fleetwood, and Rothstar (Rothschild —Princess Eugene, ridden by Beale), next in demand, Tho favorite led Rothstar for seven furlongs. Then Rothstar headed her, and stayed on to win easily by twelve lengths from Gladwell, with Dolly Houi (who started from 120yds behind) third, a head in front of Sheila Fleetwood.
