GAELIC SOCIETY
The Gaelic Society’s first meeting this vear was held in the Oddfellows Hall.' Stuart, street, last, evening. There was a. large attendance, every available seat being occupied. Chief Colin M'Konzinsnd Chieftains Roderick M’Kenzie, W. H. M‘Leod, and T. Ritchie were on the platform. Before the concert programme was commenced Chieftain Thomas Ritchie called upon Piper G. Munro to play a lament as a mark of respect to tho memory of tho late Mr Roderick M/Kenzie, and jilso to the son of an old member, Mr 'Thomas Munro. __ Tho programme was of t-b© usual high standard. Items were given by tho following:—Mrs Mathewson, song (‘ Be Kind to Old Granny ’); Mrs M'lvor. Gaelic songs (' Kaleann M’Grath ’ and ‘Ho horo s’na haro eile ’); Piper Selby, pipe selection; Mr violin selection; Bat'd Angus C. Robertson, Gaelic songs; Pipe-mapor M‘Galium, pipe selections; Mr J. S. M‘Peak, song. Mr Smith, from the West Coast, gave a number of items, all of which were of his own composition. Begg’s Orchestra gave a Rejection of Scottish melodies, and Highland dances wore given by Misses Olive and Maisie Scott and Peggy Cooper.
