IMPERIAL AFFAIRS
MUR FOREIGN FOLIiV CO.NiLLKXCE WITH DOMINIONS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, LONDON, January 7. The ‘ Daily Express’s ’ political correspondent says that the rapid march of foreign affairs has persuaded the Government of the desirability of another Imperial Conference at the earliest date. The Cabinet is specially concerned over the attitude of the dotfninions in connection with the Locarno Treaty. There is also a growing realisation in the dominions of the grave obligations involved in the Mesopotamian mandate, which will also be discussed at the coining conference. The development of disarmament, similarly cannot be settled without the collaboration of the dominions. Indeed, as regards the Pacific, Australia and Canada may claim a deciding voice. The Government is most anxious to consult the dominions regarding the Singapore base. The method of spending the grant of £1,000,000 for the marketing of Empire produce also calls for discussion. This latter problem occasioned a dispute in the Cabinet, and hence the money is thus far untouched. It is not yet decided whether there will he a separate (economic conference. The Government hopes to hold a conference in June, but is prepared to accent any date to the end of October.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
