SYRIAN REBELLION
PBOTECTIHO DAMASCUS FRENCH TAKE PRECAUTIONS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, December 20. (Received December 21, at 9.5 am.) The French apparently still fear further attacks on Damascus. It is stated that it is proposed to surround the city wjth a. series of blockhouses connected by barbed wire, whereby it is hoped to prevent raids from without, and make it impossible for the rebels to take refuge in the city and emerge later at their sweet will as hitherto. The scheme is already being put into operation.—Sydney ‘ Sun ’ Cable.
