CLOSING CEREMONY The breaking-up ceremony of tho St. Hilda’s Collegiate School took place last evening in St. Paul’s Schoolroom. Tho programme opened with tho school song, followed by a part song, 1 Gypsy Chorus,’ nicely rendered by the senior singing class. The court scone from ‘ The Merchant of Venice’ was acted bv the pupils of the elocution class, and tho play ‘Lo Jugemcnt des Abeilles,’ spoken in French, was given by the girls of Standards IV. and V. Other items were Unison song, ‘Evening Prayer’; Christmas carol, 1 Full of Beauty Stood the Mother ’; piano solo, ‘ Valso Arabesque,’ J. Vipan; recitation, ‘Fallen Among Thieves,’ M. Yates; piano solo, ‘ Humorcske,’ Audrey A. Jones; recitation, ‘ Bannermau Roclo tho Grey,’ B. Drake; piano solo, ‘The Maiden’s Wish,’ P. North. After tho annual report had been read Professor G. E. Thompson, chairman of the Board of Governors, said that the school had made good progress. Ho referred to the work of Sisters Ethel and Mildred, who were two fine leaders. Ho then addressed the girls on their aims in life.
Bishop Richards, who presented the prizes, congratulated tho school on its good progress. Ho said lie could remember when St. Hilda’s was a small institution in King street. It was now a great institution, and could do a groat deal of work for the church. Ho congratulated the sisters on their excellent work, and wished cvcryonc_a happy holiday.
