[General Unkin, who was born in served in the South African War, 1879, and in the /uin and Bcdiuanaland campaigns. Do took au active part in the South African War., During the Great War he sowed first in South-west Africa, and afterwards in Egypt and France, where lie commanded the Smith African Infantry Brigade, and later the Ninth Division. (Received December US, at 1 p.m. ) The death is announced of Mr A. N. Hornby, aged seventy-eight.— Reuter. [Albert Neilson Hornby was educated at Harrow, and played in the, Eton-Harrow cricket match in 1884. He was for many years captain of tie Lancashire County eleven. He was a, member of Lord Harris’s team which, visited Australia, in 1878-79. He played for England against Australia at the Oval in 1882, and Manchester in 1884. He was a hard-hitting batsman, and a brilliant fieldsman at cover-point. His most successful season w;ta in 1881, when he scored I,fid 1 runs with an average of 41.11. Ho represented England at Rugby football.]
