AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL COURT
GREAT EXHIBITS WELL DISPLAYED BEAUTIFUL SCENIC PICTURES The Auckland Provincial Court opened to-day. It is designed in open arches and massive pillars of grey stone, radiating from a central octagon so ns In divide the whole court into four main hays, which are occupied hy the following representative distriets of the province -Auckland city and environs, North Auckland, Waikato, Waitomo and King Country, .Rotorua, Tanranga, and the Bay of Plenty. The central octagon is occupied hy group effects of beautiful ferns, nikan palms, and shrubs built upon a cairn of To Kniti limestone. The four main walls of Ihe court are decorated with large sconic paintings by Air Porny Whitwe.ll, of Dunedin, illustrating the commerce, fertility, and beauty of the province. A fine show of flowers in big flower boxes in the great segmentary arches gives a von.’ pleasing touch of color to the outside of the court. SCENIC BEAUTIES PRESENTED,
On the wall directly facing visitors as they enter is a beautiful dinramic view of Auckland .Harbor, showing Mount Victoria and the North Dead, with Ra.ngitoto Island in the distance and the Grafton Road Bridge in the foreground. The scenes in the North Auckland Court depict Whangaroa Harbor, Russell, Whangarei, and Hokianga. In the Waikato and Waitomo Court the wall pictures represent the Waitomo Caves, mustering sheep in hill country, the Waikato River, and the railway traffic bridges over the river at Hamilton; while in the Rotorua is a particularly line panoramic view of Ohincmutu under an evening sky; pictures of Tauranga Harbor and Mount Maunganui are shown in the Tauranga and Ray of Plenty Court. In the Auckland city section, the first division of the court on the left of the main entrance, tho line scenic views of the city, Waitciuata Harbor, and Takapuna were done by Auckland artists—Mr and Mrs Jocelyn Brown, of Takapuna. These are supported hy interesting panoramic photos, some of which, were taken from aeroplanes on the occasion of the recent visit of the American fleet. The main exhibits in this section arc a fine model of the Auckland War Memorial Museum, n great provincial display of fleeces, a model of the Auckland Harbor dredge, a unigne collection of hand-painfed china (the work of an Auckland lady), and an exceptionally fine collection "of kauri gum, lent by Mr Davis, of Rerun era.
