IN THE EDUCATION COURT
BOKIESSORI DEMONSTATION
Besides demonstrations by the Cavers ham Standard VI. pupils in woodwork and cookery under Mr George and Miss Melville respectively, the primer class of the Normal School took part in a interesting demonstration this morning that attracted a good deal of attention. Under Miss M. Thornton, Miss N. Alexander, and Miss F. AJlan, the pupils were put through the customary morning’s work, and use of pictorial cards and health talks was well demonstrated by the teachers, A feature of the health talks was the valuable instruction imparted in the correct methods of eating and drinking and general heaJth principles. Group and individual teaching of the beginnings of reading, writing, and arithmetic followed, and then there ware rhythmic games. One underlying principle was the Montessori spirit, allowing ordered freedom of bodily movement. The demonstration was another instance of the interesting character of the demonstration in the Education Court.
A civics class bearing on parliamentary ejections was held this afternoon, with the Maori Hill School pupils as subjects. To-morrow will he the last day of the) daily demonstration school classes in the Education Court. The infant classes from the Elwood Montessori Kindergarten will continue, however, in the forenoons next, week from Monday to Thursday inclusive.
