At the second Miss Jervis put her tee shot in the rough, and just escaped being bunkered. With her second Mrs Dodgslran, who was on the green m 2, « a long putt for 3, and was 2 up. Th® third saw Mrs Dodgshun m Her tee shot was in the rough, and her second barely escaped a like rate, nex third was sliced into the thick rong i. Her fourth barely cleared, necessitating 5 to reach the green. Miss Jems was on the green in three splendid shots, and laid her fourth lead, taking the hole in 5-7. Miss Jervis was short at the fourth. Playing from a wet patch she was again short with her ctup shot, but laid a long putt from the edge of the green dead for a 4, and halved the hole in 5. At the fifth Miss Jervis was short with her drive, but played well out of the wet patch, and lay just short of the green. She played, her approach rather too strongly and missed the return. Mrs Dodgshun, who had pulled her drive, recovered well, and took the hole in .4, lying 2 up. “ Potiki ” was halved in 3. Miss Jervis missed an excellent chance at the seventh, where she played two perfect wooden shots, but played her approach weakly, and only got tho edge of the green with her fourth. Mrs Dodgshun, who drove soundly, dulled her brassie shot, played her third weakly, hut was on the green in 0, halving the hole. Both players had excellent drives at the eighth, hut Mrs Dodgshun placed her mashio shot on the green, whilst Miss Jervis, who had to negotiate the bank guarding the green, overran and lost the hole, 5-4. Mrs Dodgshun. 3up Tim ninth and tenth were halved in 0 and 5 respectively. Poor putting saw the eleventh halved in 6. At the twelfth Miss Jervis missed a short putt, Mrs Dodgshun taking tho hole. 3-4. Miss Jervis played three magnificent shots at the thirteenth, and narrowly missed a 4. Mrs Dodgshun, who duffed her second and third shots, took 4 to reach the green, and required two putts. Mrs Dodgshun, 3 up. The fourteenth was halved in B’s.. At tho fifteenth both got good drives, but Mrs Dodgshnn’s mashio shot was short. It took her 4 to reach the green, Miss Jervis taking the hole, 4-5. Mrs Dmlgshun was 2 up at the sixteenth, where the game ended. Miss Jervis again missed a short putt, Mrs Dodgshun winning, 3 and 2.
MRS COOK t. MISS WITHERS. Mrs Cook won her game by steadier all-round golf than that of her opponent. Both players wore driving equally long balls, but Sirs Cook had the advantage in direction. Miss Withers was erratic, both pulling and slicing. Her approach chip shots were also without finish, but her putting was excellent. She sunk several putts of 15ft and 20ft. Mrs Cook iron the first hole at the second. She putt her second shot into a bunker, Miss Withers playing short of the green. Mrs Cook played out well, and halved the hole in 5. At tho third hole. Mrs Cook with her third chipped to within 10ft of the pin. Miss Withers played her approach shot across tho green, her return shot being within 12ft of the pin. Mrs Cook’s putt lay dead on the pin, but she missed a 2ft putt, the hole being halved in 7. At the fourth Miss Withers squared the gams. Both players chipped to within 4ft of the pin, and Mrs Cook missing her putt Miss Withers, who made no mistake, took the hole. The tee shots at the fifth were both short, but good mashio shots reached the green. Both took three putts, the hole being halved in 5. Mias Withers played short at the sixth, Mrs Cook reaching the green, and taking the hole, 3-4. At “Hillside” Mrs Cook sliced her second into the rough. Miss Withers pulled her tee shot into the rough, dropped another, and drove into the hill, both players taking 6to reach the green. Mrs Cook took the hole, 7-8. Mrs Cook, 2 up. Miss Withers was on the green in 2. At the eighth Mrs Cook overplayed. Miss Withers played her first putt too strongly, overrunning the Dole by 4ft, but made no mistake with her return, taking the hole in 4. Airs Cook, 1 up. At the ninth Miss Withers’s third shot was short, Airs Cook reaching the green and sinking her second putt for 5. ATiss Withers, who was on the edge of the green for 4, missed her putt and gave the hole. The tenth was halved in 5. At the eleventh Alisa Withers played two perfect shots. Mrs Cook, pulling her second into the sandhill, picked out without a penalty, her third shot just* reaching Alias Withers’s second, the latter taking the bole, 4-5. A perfect tee shot placed Airs Cook on tho green 12ft from tho pin at the twelfth. Miss Withers pot a bunker at the edge of the green, hut played out well, and just missed a 15ft putt for half in 3. Afrs Cook. 2 up. Airs Cook pulled her second shot at the thirteenth, hut a well-judged brassie took her to tho green for 3. A 12ft putt gave her the hole in a perfect 4. Alisa Withers, who was also on the green in 3, required two putts. The fourteenth saw Alias Withers in trouble in a bunker on the left of the green. Playing out well, she was within 12ft of the pin, and sunk her putt for a 4, Afrs Cook, however, was within 3ft of the pin with her second, and took the hole in 3, lying dormie 4. The game ended at the fifteenth. ATiss Withers’s chip shot was again short, but, reaching the green in 4, she sunk a long putt to halve the hole in 5, tho game ending 4 up, 3 to play. OTHER CONTESTS. In the bogey handicap Airs Guy Williams went the round in 78—a record for the course. Airs Kear (Timaruf won the long driving contest with 197yds 2ft.
