With good luck the going may not bo very bad for the races that start on Thursday. Most of the visiting horses have arrived, and the rest are expected this evening. , „ . Tho local horses arc nearly all going well. Happy Days is one of the exceptions. He is a bit lamo in one of his feet, Mr G. E. Curry will he tho stipendiary steward on duty. •Tho M'.Lean Stakes on tho first day will give some of the southern two-year-olds-their first gallop in public. It should bo a very interesting race. The Rotowaro Association football team walked off the field in a game at Huut.lv on Saturday as an expression of its "dissatisfaction with the reiorco s ruling. The South Auckland Association will make a lull investigation of the matter. Recently tho Thames team took similar action, when terms of suspension wore meted out to tho players concerned. TEST CRICKET. A TRIAL MATCH. LONDON, October 5. (Received October 6, at 1.30 p.m.) Tho County Cricket Advisory Cqmmittco has decided to ask the Marylebono Club to arrange a trial tost match on June 5,7, and Bat Lords, probably England versus the Rest, as a guide to the choice of the test team. The counties are trying to arrange with tho Austrulian Board of Control that tho couutv matches of the 1926 tour be the same hours as the county matches, but they are prepared to waive an extra half-hour on tho third day to finish the game. —A. and N.Z.
