ALTHOUSE AND MIDDLETON
FIRST CONCERT TO-MORROW NIGHT. Evidences of intense interest and a crowded audience to welcome two of the world’s greatest singers _at His Majesty’s Theatre to-morrow night are being manifested at The Bristol Piano Company’s, where the box plans for the two Dunedin concerts are on view, it is of interest that Messrs J. and N. Tait should send such notable artists to New Zealand to follow-on tho successes of Galli-Curci and Krelsler. Advance notices are sometimes inclined to exaggerate,- but the management claim, and Australian and Auckland critiques amply support their claim in this case, that hardly anything said or written in praise of these two singers could bo too extravagant. Each singer justifies his advance reputation ana arouses tho most intense enthusiasm. No sooner lias Middleton's baritone eclipsed all olso in tho minds of his heairrs than Althouse’s wonderful Caruso-like tenor captures all hearts. A veritable musical feast is promised for to-morrow evening, when the programme will include ‘ Forza del Destine’ (Verdi), ‘Your Eyes’ (‘Tos Yens’) (Babcy), ‘Song of the Flea’ (Moussorgsky) , ‘ Hawaiian Love Song ’ (Bonnot), ‘Volga Boatmanßussian folk song from the ‘ Rage of the Tempest ’ (Handel), ‘Chevalier Bello Etoile ’ (Holmes), ‘The Great Awakening’ (Kramer). A liberal number of the ballad successes of the year will be sung by way of extras and recalls, and these will include •* What a Wonderful World it Would Be ’ (Hermann Lolir), ‘My Little Banjo,’ ‘Sylvia,’ etc. Mr Edward Harris is the solo pianist and accompanist. The concert will start punctually at five minutes past 8, when patrons are respectfully requested to bo in their seats. The box plans for the 7s Gd and os seats are at Tho Bristol Piano Company’s. The second and final recital will be given on Friday, when an entirely new programme will bo presented.
