PRESBYTERIANS DIFFER
SOME BASES OF BELIEF. ATLANTIC CITY, September 1. Should Now York churches be permitted to ordain clergymen wlm refuse to accept the virgin birth F Modernism is becoming very strong in the Presbyterian Church, and many young men who wish to enter the ministry deny this article of belief. A great number of them also have accepted tire evolution theory. Differences of opinion have become so accentuated that a schism in the church is threatened. The General Presbyterian Conference at Atlantic City is attempting to reconcile these differences. [Rev. 0. W. Willis (Moderator of the New South Wales Presbyterian Assembly) told the ‘ Guardian ’ that the virgin birth was an essential part of the Presbyterian faith. No question had ever arisen regarding it in Australia.]
