FASCISTS' METHODS

TRADE UNION MEMBERSHIP MR REDWOOD’S EXPOSURE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, October 1. (Received October 2, at 9.20 a.m.l Mr Hugh Redwood, in an article pointing out that the Fascists* trade unions claim a membership of 1,764,000, expresses the opinion that an explanation of their recruiting methods is essential. He declares that the martyrdom of Molinella illustrates?the Fascist savagery in securing conversions. Molinella is a small town, whose workers, under the Labor Administration, intensively cultivated and conquered unpromising soil, achieving prosperity and establishing flourishing co-opera-tive concerns and a popular library. Fascists Invaded tho town in 1922 and burned the co-operative shops and sacked tho library, tho purpose being to force non-Fascists to join the Fascist unions.

When the workers refused to do this the Fascists kidnapped their wives until the non-Fascists joined. They beat and maltreated men and women, killing six and injuring hundreds. Five hundred non-Fascists are still resisting the Fascists, who are attempting to starve them into submission. Many families are facing death.

The non-Facists held a secret meeting and sent a letter to King Victor, saying: “The Government represents you as its accomplice in the tyranny which is destroying Italy. Molinella would gladly welcome you if you were a constitutional King and a defending guardian, instead of a Fascist King.'* —Sydney ‘ Sun ’ Gable.
