EMPIRE PRODUCE
WHEAT Of SCraPETITIOH
DOM ENRONS SHOULD ADVEBTISE. .gross Association —By 'telegraph—Copyrignt LONDON, September 13. (Received September 14, at 9.40 a.m.) British shopkeepers and traders, who have extensively ordered Empire produce, stated that they are disturbed by a reported plan ol American arid Continental combines to launcha big selling campaign in Britain, directed against Empire foodstuffs, as soon as Wembley closes. 'The campaign is designed to regain the markets won by the dominions through the medium of the Exhibition. The manager of the provision department ot a loading YVcst End house declared that if the dominions produce suffered heavily through .American competition in the near future, tho fault would entirely lie with the dominions.
The position of the latter would have been unassailable now if they had advertised extensively from the opening of the Exhibition, instead of which they are relying wholly on the home wholesalers and retailers.—Renter.
