RUGBY OTAGO DEFEATED OUPv BOYS BADLY BEATEN. Otago ami ’Wellington mot at Athletic Park in fine weather, though the ground was sloppy lrouT_ recent rains. EASTERN DISTRICTS V. OTAGO JUNIORS This match was played at Dunback on a ground practically covered with water, and ended in a draw—no score. THE PEACE CUP Though weakened by the absence of Lomas (the All Black hooker) Thames retained possession of tho Peace Cup by defeating Pukekoho by 24 points to 3. THE MOASGAR CUP Te Ante College beat Napier Boys’ High School in a Moascar Gup match at Waipawa by 21 points to G. TUAPEKA BEATS VINCENT [Special to the ‘Stah.’] CLYDE, September 14. Tuapeka beat a weak Vincent team at Cromwell by 6 points to 3. Tho winners’ forwards won the game. BENEFIT MATCH Alhambra and Taieri Rovers met at Mosgiol, the former winning by 8 points to 3. There was a very poor attendance, and rain fell heavily while the match was in progress. For Alhambra Glengarry and Kydd scored trios, tho former’s being converted by Callender. Grieves kicked a penalty goal for Taieri Rovers. The match was played as a benefit for two injured Taieri players. SCHOOL RUGBY The final match in tho primary schools’ competition was played on tho Ovid, and resulted in a win for the Macandrcw Road School, which defeated North-oast Valley School by 5 points to 0. The winners, although lighter than their opponents, adapted themselves to the conditions, and wore slightly the better team. This is tho fourth successive year that the losers have been runners-up to the Maeaudrew Rond hoys. Old Kaikorai players will be interested to know that ihe scorer for the winners is a son of “Billy” Duncan, tho ex-All Black forward, while the goal kicker is the son of “ Jack ” Morrison, who kicked so many goals for the Blnc-and-Blacks. The referee was the Rev. W. B. Scott. The Grocers’ and Phoenix teams played their annual match at Montecillo, an even game resulting in a win for Grocers. Fraser scored a try which Carolin converted. H. 'Wills also scored a try. Harwood scored for Phoenix after a good passing rush, the final score being Bto 3. Mr A. Floury was referee.
