At sixth move in No. 59 Black can do better than ip-'o; however, you have come back to Jordan’s pky at fourteenth move and varied again Horn eighteenth to the end. “A.J.R." (Hamilton).—The time for calling in tho games for the first round will depend on what reports are received from the different players, but it should not bo very long now. The following is the first pair of correspondence gaim’3 received for publication from tho first round of tho tournament now being played. This is also tho first New Zealand draughts correspondence tournament. Both players are well-known competitors at the annual dominion championship tourneys:— Game No. 81, Bristol (24-20 line). CRITICISMS. “The Old Chump” write?; “A nice position crops up in the duly number of ‘ Draughts Review.’ I was running over a few positions the other night, and on page 178 there, is « diagram from a. •Waterloo’ grime, nolo (f). The position is most interesting. At (g) the editor of tho ‘Review ’ suggests a White win by 31-27, 6-10, 27-24, 14-18. cle.
