The Governor-General. Sir Charles Feigusson, and Lady Alice Eergusson arrived at Wanganui yesterday afternoon on an official visit. They were enthusiastically welcomed by a very large gathering of the public. Later His Excellency was entertained at dinner by the deputy mayor. Ho also attended a large Masonic gathering. The Rev. H. £. Bellhousa, of Trinity Church, was a passanger by the Orsova, which vessel is still held up in Fremantle on account of the strike. In order to reach home Air Bellhouse was compelled to travel overland to Sydney. He left there yesterday by the Tiihiti, and should arrive in Dunedin about Wednesday next. Air Francis J. Williams, representative for the Australian Ladies’ Ripe Band and Concert Party, is in Dunedin making arrangements for the return visit of tho band at Burns Hall next week.
The Finance Committee of the Hospital Board recommends the appointment of Miss Jessie L. Wren as matron of the Roxburgh Hospital. New guests at the Excelsior Hotel are Mr J. (Wellington), Mr J. Hutchison (Timaru), Mr J. Macaulay (Allmry), Messrs J. C. Michaelis and T. Nurall (Christchurch), and Mr and Airs Everett (Auckland!.
