SESSION'S END
AH EARLY ELECTION CFbom Our PARLIAMENTARY EetortkbJ WELLINGTON, August 20. Further corroboration is being provided in parliamentary circles for the suggestion that the election will be mucli earlier than is usual. The Government programme for the second half of the session leaves little to bo completed, and the order paper may early be disposed of. The announcement of the Prime Minister that .Government business will take precedence as from Wednesday next is an indication that there will be no loafing over verbiage or unessentials. Mr Coates, as Public Works Minister, has to present the Statement of the’ Public Works Department. There will follow the ordinary Finance Bill, and then what consideration is possible will be given to the Supplementary Estimates. The Minister of Labor’s consolidating measure in regard to the labor laws will bo submitted ; and will meet with little or no opposition from the Labor corner. As far as can be anticipated, the House will prorogue on Friday, September 18. It may happen that the business may not be gob through by the end of that week; but if such be the case the House will nso in the middle of the week following. The election will take place in the first week of November in order to anticipate the opening of the Dunedin Exhibition.
