RECHADITES

The fortnightly meeting of tbs Sobrictv Tent, was bold in the tent room, Millar street, North-east Valley, ■in >,.i -.my la.-n. Among the correspondence was a letter from the District Secretary congratulating the officers and members on the progress made by the tent during last quarter. During the evening one sister was initiated into the order, one brother was admitted on transfer from the Star of the South Tent, and one nomination was received for next meeting. Bro. Johnston moved that Sister M. Benfoll be congratulated on her appointment to the position of Prov. C-R., and in doing so made fitting reference to Sister Benfeil’s indefatigable labors for the good of tho order. Various other matters having been attended to, the Chief Ruler" closed the meeting, after which the members .spent a pleasant hour in games. The. Hope of Dunedin Tent met qs usual on Monday evening, Sister J. M'Lean, C.R., presiding over a good attendance of members. One candidate was initiated. Tho item on the syllabus, ‘Sewing for Brothers,’ was carried out, the task set by the sisters being that of trimming bats. This caused a good deal or amusement, and the first prize was awarded to Bro. L. Bond. The fortnightly meeting of the Rising Star Juvenile Tent was held in the Kensington Hail, O.R. Sister M. Algio presiding over a fair attendance of members. The superintendent, Sister S. L. Fraser, reported on tho Provincil Council meeting, and reminded members that tho initiation competition was fixed for October 7. The entertainment of the evening was a papertearing competition, which was won by Bro. R. Morris. The Star of the South Tent held its meeting in the Kensington Hull. C R. Sister A. R. Verngreen presidipg over a good attendance oi mcmuu u . me item on the syllabus for the evening was ‘ Sisters’ Surprise,’ and after the tent business had been completed the sisters took charge of the evening. Several musical games were indulged in. Then several sisters gave a sketch or charade entitled ‘ The Advertisement.’ The characters were taken by Sisters A. R. Verngreen, R. Moorhead, L. Cole, M. Rea, S. L. Fraser, and H. Mpir. After this item a surprise packet was then handed round, and was finally presented to Sister M. Benfell (Prov. C.R., Otago Sub-District). The surprise of the evening was tiro presentation of a framed P.C.R. emblem to Sister A. R. Verngreen, the presentation being made bv Sister M. Benfell (Pro. CJU The sisters then handed round supper. Bro. A. E. Harman thanked the visitors, and moved a hearty vote of thanks to the sisters for their entertainment.
