Regarding the, suggestion that citizens of the dominions ought to bo allowed to enter Britain without passports, ‘ The Times ’ states that as a result of negotiations with the dominions the Homo authorities have come to the conclusion that the advantage of passports on tho whole counterbalances any advantage to he gained by their abolition. So long as a general passport system operates, the bona fides of every person landing must be established, said a Colonial Office official. The' mere statement that a person belonged to any of the dominions was not sufficient for the port officials, who had to bo satisfied regarding the character of the would-be visitor and the place whence he came. The possession of a passport ended all difficulty and saved dolav,—'The Times.’
