The annual report of the Commonwealth Bureau of Statistirs shows that during 1924 there were 504 industrial disputes in the Commonwealth, involving 152,446 workers and entailing the loss of 918,646 working days and £917,- • 699 in wages. The percentage of uneins pioyment for the year was 84), compared with 7.1 in 1921. ' Wholesale prices decreased by 8 per cent., but they were still 88.5 per cent, above the level of the 1911 retail prices of food and groceries. Honse rents for the six capital cities had decreased during the year by 1.1 per cent, compared with the previous year.
