JUST TAKE | cup fine granulated sugar 5 cop bottc* 1 lemon 3 eggs 1 cup Duryea’s Mmzeaa I teaspoon baking powder Cream the sugar and butter. Add grated rind of lemon. Beat fhs eggs, yolks and whites separately. Stir yolks into butter and sugar* with Duryea’s Maiiena, into which the baling powder has been sifted. Then add, tablespoon at a time, whites of eggs. Put into smafl buttered tins, filled only half full so as to allow for rising. IhfiT should be baked to a delicate straw colour in a moderate oven. Make icing as follows: Boil for four minutes one-fourth cup granulated sugar in one-fourth cup water. Sift in, stirring all the tim#, sufficient confectioner’s sugar to make icing proper consistency. If icing becomes too thick, lemon juice or hot water may be added. Do not attempt to ice cakes while they arc hot, or idng will tun* They should be cold, or nearly so.
