OCTAGON Bcbc Daniels, in her second starring picture for Paramount, 1 Miss Bluebeard,’ now at the Octagon Theatre, is supported by an ideal cast of players. Robert Frasier is leading man opposite Miss Daniels. He has the role of a woman-hating young composer. He has met Colette (Bobo) only once in his life—and tho second time she is introduced to him as his wife. Raymond Griffith has a comedy role as tho Hon. Bertie Bird, who does his best to straighten things out for tho star and other principals in this merry little marriage mix-up, only to mess things up all the more. Others include Lawrence D’Orsay, Florence Billings, and Ivan Simpson in a comedy butler characterisation. ‘ Miss Bluebeard ’ is a pleasing love comedy, with Miss Daniels m a piquant role. The supporting items include tho official film of the All Blacks’ 1925 tour. The Octagon Concert Orchestra provides the musical selections. EMPIRE AND KING EDWARD ‘ Madonna of tho Streets ’ is a stirring dramatic story of London’s famous Limcbouse distinct. Nazimora, the famous Russian actress, who returns to the screen after an absence of two years, and Mdton Sills take tho featured roles. Tho story contains a colorful romance, and is one of the most fascinating pictures of tho world’s moat famous Chinatown that the screen has ever held. ‘ Madonna of tho Streets ’ is the attraction at tho Empire and King Edward Theatres. An added attraction at the Empire is tho arrival of tho U.S.S. Melville and fourteen destroyers at Dunedin. The music is supplied by tbo Empire Orchestra. EVERYBODY'S ‘Fifth Avenue Models,’ in which Mary Philbiu is being starred in Everybody’s Theatre, is a dramatic love story of a young woman employed as a mannequin in a modiste’s establishment. Miss Phil bin is supported by a notable cast, including Norman Kerry, Rosemary Theby, Betty Francisco, Ruth Stouehouse, Josef Rwickard, and William Conklin. A second feature is ‘ Scarred Hands.’ It is a picture of the vast oilfields of America. CDEEH'S ‘ Champion of Lost Causes,’ Edmund Lowe’s latest starring vehicle showing at the Queen’s Theatre, is a typical Max Brand, story, full of tense and thrilling situations and rapid action. The photo-playfis a very skilful adaptation of Mr Brand's story of the same name. Another excellent film is ‘Galloping Gallagher,’ in which Hie all-round athlete. Fred. Thomson, is featured. PLAZA AND GRAND ‘Women Who-Give’ and ‘The Heart Bandit ’ arc the two features being screened at the Plaza and Grand Theatres. Both pictures have excellent stories, which arc disclosed in a most novel manner. Ollier items are shown in support.
