CHORAL SOCIETY
On Tuesday and Wednesday, August 25 and 2(1, the Dunedin Choral Society will give Sir Arthur Sullivan’s tuneful work, ‘ The Golden Legend.’ Of this work Debussy, the eminent French musician, said that he considers it to be Sullivan’s best effort in the dramatic cantata form, “It is,” ho said, “ pleasing ami melodious, the opening scene, the belfry of Strashnrg Cathedral, being 100 times more satisfactory than Liszt’s setting of Longfellow’s poem.” The soloists are: Soprano, Madame Winnie Fraser (who has just returned from further study in Rome, Vienna, and London!; alto, Miss D. Skinner; tenor, Mr C. C. Scott: bass, Mr \V. Geinmoll.
