A cablegram from New York states that Mrs J. P. Morgan died on Friday after suffering from sleeping sickness for two months. Tho Rev. C. Maitland Ellissee, the now pastor lor the United Congregational Church, King street, will leave Sydney on September 4 by the Moeraki, and will commence his ministry on the second Sunday in September. Mr T. Scott travelled by the second express to-day to attend the Technical Schools Boards’ conference at Wellington. Rodgers, of the Soldiers Revaluation Office, has been on a visit to Dunedin, and left lor the north this morning. Mr J. A. Roberts left this morning for a trip to Wellington. Mr Robert Lee was a passenger for Wellington by the 11.30 train to-day. Mr Walter Downs travelled north today, bound for Wellington on hospital business. Mr Norman MtKinlay started for Wellington this morning. Mr W. M. Maclean went by Hie 11.30 train to-day, calling at Oamaru on bis way to Christchurch. New guests at the Grand Hotel are Mr S. Combs is resigning the permanent secretaryship of the _ Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association after nine years’ service.
