PRINCE OF WALES URUGUAY’S WARM WELCOME. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. MONTEVIDEO, August 14. Tho Prince of Wales was driven to tho Government Palace through streets lined with troops. Enthusiastic throngs shouted “ Vivas ” and dropped flowers from tho balconies. The crowds pressed close to tho automobile, but were restrained by the police.—Reuter. VARIOUS ENGAGEMENTS. MONTEVIDEO, August 15. Accompanied by President Serrato and high officials tho Prince of Wales visited the tomb of Jose Artigas, known as tho liberator of Uruguay, and placed on it a bronze wreath similar to that deposited by tho Italian King several years ago. The Prince attended a cattle show ou Friday afternoon after an informal luncheon at a restaurant in the Municipal Park, given by the President. On arriving at tho palace after coming ashore the Prince reviewed the troops from the balcony. His appearance was the signal for great cheering and renewed applause.—Renter. THE ARRIVAL. MONTEVIDEO, August LI. (Received August 17, at 8 a.m.) Tho Repulse was escorted to tho harbor by a Uruguayan cruiser and aeroplanes. The Prince was welcomed by the President and Government officials. Tho main industry of the country is pastoral, GO per cent, of the total area being devoted to stock-raising, 20- per cent, _to mixed farms and ranches, and only 5 per cent, to agriculture.
