"WEE” GEORGIE WOOD TO-NIGHT
J. C. WILLIAMSON VAUDEVILLE Super-vandevillo from J. C. Williamson Theatres in Australia, and originally from the leading English, American, and Continental theatres, is tho attraction at His Majesty’s Theatre, opening to-night for a season of six nights and two matinees. Tho J. O. Williamson vaudeville acts are now firmly established in the dominion, and this, the seventh company, promises to be best of all. The star attraction is London’s famous vest-pocket comedian, “ Wee” Georgie Wood, who has a big following in both vaudeville and pantomime productions. “ Wee ” Gcorgic Wood is supported by his own company, including Dolly Manner and Tom Blucklock. Tho sketches to be staged hero will bo selected from the following successes:—‘ Blade Hand George,' ‘ Thicker Than Water,’ and ‘ Nobody Loves Mo.’ “ Wee ” Georgie Wood had a wonderfully successful return visit to Sydney and Melbourne. One critic said: ‘‘lt takes a lot to sir up a Melbourne audience to a pitch of enthusiasm at the theatre, but last night at the. Tivoli the people came right out of their shell, and at times the applause was no loud as to drown tho orchestra. Some good things have been produced m Melbourne, but never anything better than this turn —‘ Wee ’ Georgio Wood and company. One could listen to this diminutive comedian n whole evening without ever tiring of him. He is a consummate artist.” Tho company of J. C. Williamson acts supporting the star are Billy Maloney, the “ Beau Brummol ” of vaudeville, in up-to-date songs and stops; Mario Lawton, with her piano and harp, classed by tho Sydney ‘Bulletin’ as “Tho angel at the harp ”; an actcf charm in Frank’s Canine Statuary; tho Aldor Trio, presenting a unique trapeze act; and the dancing violinist, Jay Whidden, with a big Englis hand Continental reputation. The Columbia Syncopators, the jazz hand from tho Hotel Cecil, London, are an added attraction, and an “extra special” act with the company is Neil M‘Kay, billed as the Russian Scot, a comedian who is a big favorite in the leading English and American vaudeville theatres. A speciallyselected orchestra is umier the baton of Air A. G. Frost. The box plan is at Tho Bristol, and day sales are obtainable at the Geyser Confectionery.
