AMIENS DISASTER
ELEVEN DEAD HARROWING SCENES Press Association—-By Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS, August 14. (Received August 15, at 11.5 a.m.) The death roll as a result of the Amiens railway disaster is now eleven. The condition of live of the injured is very serious, but the others are considered out of danger. The scenes - at the wreck were most distressing. The mutilated bodies are at present lying in the hospital mortuary. Gangs of men are busily engaged in clearing the track’. It is hoped that normal traffic will be resumed at noon to-day. M. Laval (Minister of Public Works) declares that it is impossible at present to make a precise regarding the responsibility for the accident. He says he has ordered the release of the engine driver after examination by a doctor, who made, a reservation regarding the mental condition of the driver. Ho is a man with a good record. Ho was found after the smash wandering along the track in a stupilied condition. Apparently he had lost his reason.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
