lADIES' PIPE BAND

Yesterday afternoon the Australian Ladies’ Pipe Band visited the hospital and the City Fire Station, and played selections. The ladies also witnessed an exhibition turnout by the fire brigade. _ At the Burns Hall in the evening there was a large attendance,_ and the delightful entertainment provided was widely diversified. The bagpipe, offerings were, of course, the principal items; but songs, dances, recitations, drum solos, and an exhibition of staff swinging were also given. Mrs W. Layburn played the piano accompaniments. A matinee was held this afternoon, and the local season will end with to-night’s programme.
