STEVE BOREHAM MEMORIAL

At the annual conference of the New Zealand Workers’ Union the following resolution was carried That the Now Zealand Workers’ Union vote the sum of £25, and also open a subscription list in tho ‘New Zealand Worker ’ in order to collect finance to erect a suitable memorial over tho last resting place of our late comrade. Mr Stove Boreliani, all finance over and above tlie amount required for the memorial to ho handed to the late Mr Borcliam’s widow j further, that the secretary be instructed to communicate with ail the Labor organisations in Dunedin requesting them to co-operate in this worthy movement.” A mooting was hold in tho Trades Hall last evening, and a committee was set up to further the memorial project, Jt was decided that Air J. E. MacMaiuis send subscription lists to the various local unions and to tho workers on the various jobs, ail money raised locally to bo forwarded direct to the Now Zealand Workers’ Union, which will bo the responsible body to receive contributions. It was also decided that the members of the late Mr Borehara’s family bo given tho right to express their desires as to what ionn tho memorial shall take. Mr (J. Baldwin. (president of tho New Zealand Workers’ Union) and Mr A. Cook (secretary of that body) paid a tribute to the memory of their departed comrade, and urged workers who have benefited as a result of Mr Boreham’s organising work to keep green tho memory of such a great track blazer.
