HURRICANE IN HOLLAND
VILLAGES DESTROYED LOSS OF LIFE AND PROPERTY. Press Association—By Telegraph-Copyright THE HAGUE, August 11. (Received August 12, at 11.3;) a.m.) The East Netherlands wore swept by a terrific thunderstorm, causing loss ol life and much damage to property. Tho details am meagre, as telegraphic and telephonic communication is interrupted. Four were, killed and R)0 injured in tile village ol Borculo, where tho typhoon lasted lor several minutes. The towers of both churches were blown down, and not n single house escaped. The, village of Nccde was also destroyed. Serious damage is reported from J)idam, Doetinehem, Hengcio, and all Eastern Geldcrland. During thfe hurricane an aeroplane crashed into the Catholic Asylum at Rnrio, killing three people. Borculo, with 5,090 inhabitants, 2,000 of whom are now homeless, was apparently’ tho storm centre. The burgomaster asked for troops and iood stuffs. The Governor of Gelderland arrived at Borculo afoot, as all the roads were impassable to vehicles on account ol fallen trees. Tho damage is estimated at over 4,000,000 florins. .Renter.
