UNSATISFACTORY THREE YEARS' TENURE

The annual meeting ol the Licensed Victuallers’ Association, held to-day, was the largest and most representative gathering yet held. The following officers were elected; — President, Mr P. Coyle (re-elected unopposed); vice-presidents, Messrs P. J. Griffin (Wellington) and A. Hose (Christchurch); treasurer, Mr J. MT’arland (Wellington); executive— Messrs W. P. Kirkwood (Stratford), H. Harris (Marlinborough), C. Dunmore (Waikato). B. Aislabic (Gisborne), TV. Keller (Hokitika), J. A. Heath (Napier), A. J. Monro (Wel--1 ini' ion), J. Heblnngtnu (Manawatu), T. A. Nixon (Wanganui), G. M'Donald (Wellington), H. Marshall (Timaru), M. O’Brien (Southland), G. A. Vincent. (Wairarapa), W. Devine (Palmerston North), and A. Paapo (Otago). At the conclusion of the meeting the President stated that tho fpiestion ol accommodation had been thoroughly gone into, and delegates were unanimously of the opinion that, given something more .stable limit tho present unsatisTactory three years’ tenure, the retail trade could ami would bo put ou a basis second to none in tho world in regard to accommodation. Promises ol support with a view to giving every opportunity for effecting changes winch at present could not ho made were forthcoming from many quarters, some of them quite unexpected. Iho hope Imd been expressed to the meeting that necessary legislation would not ho debt vcd.
