ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT [Per United Press Association.] CHR I.STCHURCH, July 28. In its second venture to obtain a bishop for the diocese of Christchurch the Synod has met with partial failure. A member .of the clergy in England, whom the Synod sitting in conference favored as a suitable man, has refused the olfer. “You can say that tho delegation appointed by tho Synod has met with disappointment in its first attempt.” said the Dean of Christchurch, when asked if a reply had been received to an offer it was presumed to have made relative to the bishopric. The delegation referred to by tho dean consists of Mr H D. Andrews (Chancellor), Canon Galway (registrar), and Dean Carrington, who is the bishop’s commissary.
