BILLIARD CHAMPIONS MEET
M'COHACHY'S FINE £6O /■The outstanding performance of the New Zealand champion was the 660 break compiled by him in the M'Con-achy-Tothill billiards matcli yesterday. Tlie releree at the afternoon session was Mr C. J. Bertenshaw, the wellknown local cueist. M'Conachy, carrying on his unfinished 32 of the previous night, gave a faultless display. There "was warm applause as ho passed each century. He broke down in playing for a cannon. The red was on spot and the white a few inches to the left in a direct line with the top pocket. Tito cue ball was near the top of the side cushion on the right._ With the throe halls in almost a straight line the Now Zealander had a tricky shot ahead of him. He struck the read and went on to the top cushion; but his ball had rather too much side on it, and missed the white on coming back. His 660 effort is probably the biggest break scored in Dunedin. The scores at the end of the session were:— Tothill (rec. 4,000) ... 5,142 M'Conachy (in play) ... 2,251 Continuing an Unfinished 67, the New Zealander failed on the first cannon. His opponent compiled an attractive 104, his biggest break for the night. The New Zealander’s biggest was 212.
