The Moroccan situation sunqned up is that Abdel Krim is losing ground from a military and a political standpoint. ‘ Le Temps’ says: “The Riflian withdrawal north of Wergha indicates that Abdel Krim is anxious to avoid the battle rendered imminent by the arrival of the French reinforcements. He knows the difficulties of French pursuit into the mountains, and thus hopes to gain - lime to open negotiations.”— Reuter. ENEMY DRIVEN BACK. PARIS, July 25. A Fez message stales that a French mobile force advanced along both banks of the Wergha despite resistance from the enemy, who were driven back, losing many .prisoners. This successful action has' cleared a broad strip of country 75 kilometres northward of Fez, and greatly impressed the natives.— Reuter. PREPARING MAIN OFFENSIVE. PARIS, July 26. French attacks effectively relieved the pressure on the Fez and Taza beleaguered forces. Plans for the main offensive are in course of preparation. The delay in launching the attack is due to reinforcements being awaited and the French policy of offering peace terms under a time limit.—Reuter. F RANCO-SPANISH CONFERENCE. POINTS AGREED TO. "MADRID, July 27. (Received July 27, at 9.40 a.m.) The Franco-Spanish Conference has concluded. An agreement was signed with regard to Morocco, including a declaration that neither Franco nor Spain shall make peace separately; also on the question of contraband, the delimitation of the Franco-Spanish zones of influence, and political collaboration. —Reuter. SPANISH OFFENSIVE PLANNED. MADRID, July 26. (Received July 27, at 10.55 a.m.) The Franco-Spanish Conference agreed to reciprocate in any provisional rights or pursuit in and night over both the French and Spanish zones. It is reliably learned that large-scale operations will be undertaken in the Spanish zone in Morocco immediately after the return of General Do Rivera to Tetuan. After an intensive bombardment a landing will bo attempted at Ajdir. Several columns will assemble in the upper valley of tbc Walike rt in order to invade the territory of the Guoznays tribe and to take the Riff Jlarka tribe, which is operating in the 'Wergha Valley, in the rear.— Reuter.
