A VETERAN WORKER.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, --Many old residents of Otago will rernepiber Mrs E. B. Miller, who for many years travelled this province giving cookery lectures to schools, etc. Letters just received from both Lady Stout and Mrs Leo Cowie state that the old Indy, now nearly eighty years of age, is greatly in need of help, tho fund raised for her by the women of Dunedin being now exhausted, leaving her only her pension. She is living in Auckland, and has recently had a paralytic stroke, leaving her quite helpless and necessitating attendance night and day. This involves a very heavy strain 'upon a few kind friends. I am sure there are many _ housewives who as girls received their first lessons in cookery under her kind tuition, and who would be glad to help, as well as others who have profited hy her recipes. Donations may be left with Mrs W. H. Hictt, 264 George street; or (thanks to your courtesy! at the office of this paper, addressed “Veteran Worker’s Fund.”—l am, etc,, Mahy S. Powell, W.C.T.U. July 21. [Wo shall ho pleased to take charge of donations for this cause.—Ed. E.S.]
