Major Do Pinedo, the Italian airman, left for Brisbane, but after travelling fifty miles Jus machine developed engine trouble, and ho returned. Ho will resume his flight to-morrow* RUBBER WORKERS STRIKE. SYDNEY, July 2L (Received July 21, at 10.25 a.in.) A lightning strike occurred at the Drummoyue works of the Perdriau Rubber Company, wbeu thirty-two engine drivers and firemen ceased work, and the night staff refused to go on duty. Some weeks ago representatives of the Engine Drivers and Firemen’s Association waited on the management and requested an average increase in wages of 7s weekly. They wore asked to put their claim in writing, which they did. As no reply was received, the men decided to cease work. About 1,100 employees are affected.
