RUGBY O.R.F.U. COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the O.R.F.U- was hold last night, Dr W. Evans (president) in the chair. APPEAL UPHELD. It was decided to award the president’s grade match Port Chalmers v. High School to High School, on the ground that some ni’tli grade players played for Port without permission. (The match was won by Port by a converted try to a try.) WITHDRAWAL. The Secretary of the Ziugnri Club wrote asking that the chib’s sixth grade B team bo withdrawn from the competition.—Agreed. PRIMARY SCHOOLS’ TOURNAMENT. It was decided to send a primary school team to ! Timnrn to play in the South Island primary schools’ tournament on August 17 and 19. It was resolved to ask tho State Schools’ Association and the Christian Brothers to each appoint a selector, and that, tho committee appoint a third selector. Mr James Duncan was appointed as the union’s .selector. THANKS FOR DONATION. The Otago Hockey Association wrote thanking the union for a donation of £3 5s towards the representative team’s Wellington tournament expenses. The help was much appreciated by all hockey players. TRANSFER. , A. Masson, of tho Mcrivnlo. Club, Christchurch, was granted a transfer to tho Pirates Club. PERMISSION TO TRAVEL. Permission was granted to the Training College team to travel to Christchurch to play the Northern Training College team between July 27 and 31. REINSTATEMENT GRANTED. The New Zealand Union advised that A. Howley had been reinstated as a uni oil player. ' GATE TAKINGS. The Secretary reported that the gate takings on Saturday were £l9l (Carisbrook £162 Is, Caledonian £2O 15s 3d). Air Nelson said the amount of the takings for the accident fund was £55 Os 6d. REFEREE REPORTS SPECTATOR. The Referee (Rev. W. R. Scott) in the second grade match Y.M.C.A. v. Pirates A reported Dunne, a Y.M.C.A. emergency, for using insulting language to him ou the Oval. The referee’s letter stated that Dunne was a spectator. When the tide o) battle went against Y.M.C.A. in the last halthour of the game some of the Y.AI.C.A. supporters began to reflect on his ability as a referee. Dunne came on to the field, and poured forth a volume of criticism and abuse. It was decided to ask tho referee, Dunne, and an official of the Y.AI.C.A. Club to appear before the meeting of tho committee next Monday night. JUNIOR FOOTBALL. It was decided to carry on the junior matches as long as possible, Mr Cavanagh reporting on behalf of tho Flag Committee that it would lake a few Saturdays to reach finality.

It is to he regretted that sufficient tennis cannot be found to warrant the institution of a sub-union for Lawrence. SOUTH OTAGO FOOTBALL. The only senior match played on Saturday was between Olntha and Clinton, and it resulted in an easy victory for the former by 22 to 11. This makes Clufcha equal to Toko in banner points —viz., 14 each —but Toko have to play Kaitangata as well ns Olntha yet, while the latter have only to meet Toko. The weekly meeting of the committee of tho Otago Rugby League was held last evening, Air J. T. Cooper in the chair. The Forbury Parle Trotting Club wrote that the committee would receive a deputation from the League in connection with the enclosure for use of football. In reply to a letter from the Christian Brothers’ Club, which stated that one of the selectors had not attended any match of that club, the committee reported that this was wrong, a.nd tho selectors had been present at such matches.

EXECUTIVE. The weekly meeting of the executive of the Otago yootball Association was held last night, the vice-president (Air J. Douchrass) presiding. Tho Chairman apologised for the absence of the president, who was suffering from a severe cold. Air AlacGillivray was appointed manager of tho Otago team to play southland at Invercargill on August 1. It was decided to continue play in tho ordinary mannerOn third, fourth, and fifth grades until the executive willed otherwise. CONFERENCE WITH REFEREES. The Chairman said that at last meeting it was mentioned that the Referees Club was iu danger of losing five, of its members, and, in view of what was said, it had been decided to invite .the referees to a round-table conference; Tho referees’ delegation consisted of the chairman of the club, (Air W. Fleming), Alessrs W. P. Smith,, if. G. Smith, and A. Alann (.secretary). Mr W. Cocking said that this matter should ho considered in committee, and ho moved in that direction. (5) Winuer (1) v, winner (3), at Auckland, on August 22, Final yet to bo arranged. The Council Secretary later wired, in reply to the secretary, that the fixture Scacliff v. the Christchurch team must j stand. It could not be altered. The Chairman; Well, Scacliff has to :go to Christchurch. Personally, 1 ’don’t think it is fair. Scacliff travelled last year, and I think the match should lie played here this season. | Air E. From the Referees’ Club came a reply that, according to Law 13, paragraph 4, no explanation would he required from his club.
