HOUSING Away back in the early “ sixties ” Dr Starr, of London, thought out tho system of mutual assistance that has I now become permanently associated I with his name, and which has done more to solve the housing question than any other agency. The Starr-Bowkett idea was brought to the colonies, and, like other things, when transplanted has grown in size and usefulness in a manner which would surely have afforded its founder intense gratification. The rules governing the Pacific Society are in' many ways improved over the original idea. They have been brought right up to date and in accordance with modern requirements.
