When a call was made to* - labor for the Awahou this morning the men responded, and gangs were engaged. No explanation has been offered regarding the hold-up. OVER-CARRIED CARGO. REFUSAL TO HANDLE IT. [Per United Press Association.] NAPIER, -March 5, To-day trouble was experienced with the waterside workers, who refused to handle the Wellington over-carried cargo, which it was desired to tranship from the Wingalui to the Wnipori. The latter had been detained in Napier for two days in expectation of receiving the cargo from the Wingatui, but when the call was made for this work there was no response, the action of the men being in sympathy with their fellows concerned in the Wellington dispute. The Waipori therefore left for Wellington, while the Wingatui was perforce compelled to carry on the cargo to Gisborne and Auckland. CONDITIONS NORMAL AT DUNEDIN. Work is proceeding satisfactorily on the vessels in port to-dav. The Kaitoxe sailed after discharging n largo quantity of coal, and the unloading of the Kittawa’s 1,20 b tons of coal from Greymouth was commenced. The Progress sailed last night for Oamaru, and the Holmdalo arrived early this morning from Wellington. Instructions have been received by local shipping offices to accept cargo now for Wellington and Lyttelton, in view of the indications of the'resumption of work .it those ports. Tho Manuka and two overseas vessels (Karetu and Uloolon) will probably arrive on Sunday, while the Tairoa is expected on Tuesday. The Matoppo and the TrebartHa are duo about March 12, and the Kent should come in the following day. Coastal steamers to arrive, within a few days, include tho Navua (Sunday), Storm (Monday), and Opihi (Tuesday).
