There were AM guests The decorations included red and white carnations, deep red roses, and roses of a pure snowy whiteness, lire chans Vv - rl ° special ones—grey in color, with tapestiy seats and backs. The dishes all bore the millionaire ■stamp, being the choicest obtainable from many parts of the world. One of them was," Cail!e Royale Picador, eaten wit-ii Salado Diplomatic. Tho first were quails from Egypt, They were stuffed with truffled patc-de-foie gras, braised ai* served with tiny mushrooms on silver dishes. The salad was made of cold new- pola,toes from France, and oysters soaked in wine and mixed with French dressing. Another dish was Poiro.de Paris Rothschild and consisted of slewed pears split in half and dressed in pyramids ol strawbeiry ice cream studded with crystallised cherries. One of the sauces was flavored with powdered filberts. The wines included Sandeman s port (1904) and John Enshavv brandy over forty years old.
