Received January 8, at 11.30 a.m.) The weekly shipping journal, ’Fairplay,’ states that negotiations have been practically completed for the sale of a fleet of seventeen steamers at present managed by the Blue Star Line, London, on behalf of tho Union Cold Storage Company. The vessels are fitted with refrigerating machinery, with a carrying capacity of nearly 160,000 tons dead weight. The deal involves some millions sterling, and it is the largest of its kind recorded in recent years. British shipping interests engaged in the South American trade arc believed to bo the, prospective purchasers, —Reuter.
