OBITUARY
ALICE DELYSIA. Press Association —By Telegraph Copyright LONDON, January 5. The ‘Daily Herald’ reports the death of Alice Delysia, the Parisian mindmette, who became a famous revue actress. She was only thirty-throo years of sgo* Aand N.Z. Cable. [Alice Delysia was born in Paris, She was formerly a midinette, and made her first appearance on the stage at the Voxietes, in Paris, in 1910. Subsequently sho sang in the chorus at the Opera Comique and Gaiete-Lyrique. At the Olympia, Paris, in 1912., she took part in ‘ The Quaker Girl ’ and I La Revue de I’Anneo ’ and in October, 1913, she appeared as Commere in ‘La Revue d’Olympia.’ She made her first appearance on the London stage at the Ambassadors’ Theatre on October 17, 1914, as Leontine in ‘ LTngenue ’ and in the revue ‘ Odds and Ends,’ scoring an immediate success. At the London Opera-house, in June, 1916, she took part in an all-star performance of ‘ The Admirable Crichton ’ before the King and Queen. At the London Pavilion in August, 1918, she played in ‘As You Were,’ and in September, 1919, she appeared as Zaydee in ‘ Afghan’ In 1920 She went to the United States, making her first appearance in Now York in .the same part.]
