SHIP ABANDONED
CREW TAKE TO BOAT, SIX DIE FROM EXPOSURE. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyrigi®. LONDON, January 3. A terrible sea drama is reported from the coast of Brittany, where the steamer Alfredo, bound from Cardiff to Bayonne, was wrecked in a furious gale. The seas filled the engine room, and tha captain, after vainly sending out 6.0.5. signals, ordered the abandonment of tha ship. The crew drifted helplessly in the ship’s boat without food or water, and with little clothing. Six of them collapsed and died. _ Thirteen survivors landed at Orajott, and the majority lay unconscious on tha beach, while the others sought help. In the meantime the boat, with tha six corpses in it, drifted to sea* and baa not been seen, agaim—Renter. [The Alfredo, which was owned by a Spanish firm, was built in 1882 and, wafl a vessel of 950 tons. She was 208 ft lon&r 29ft broad, and 16ft deep.]
