■ VACATION CEREMONIES. FORBURY. Forbury School break-up took place yesterday. '.Mr C. M.‘Cardie presented the prizes at- the infant class function in the morning, Mr W. Fleming {chairman of committee) presided at the afternoon and evening functions, tho hitter taking place in the Coronation Hall, which was crowded. Tho Chairman stated that it was liftv years ago since tho school was founded, and the- jubilee was to be celebrated in 'February. He hoped that the crowd present at this ceremony would be a largo and representative one. Tho school year had been a most successful one, and over 400 certificates were to be presented. He would like to llia.uk the parents for the interest they had always taken in the school and its activities, and hoped they would continue to do that in. the future. The Hon. G. E. St.ilham said ho was not, used to making speeches now, as ho had to . listen to them all. When, he did go to a break-up ceremony it always took him back to the days when he was at school. Ho impressed them with the fact that they could not got a better grounding for the future than in the schools of the dominion. (Applause.) He congratulated the teachers upon bringing another successful year to u. close, tho children who had won prizes, and those who had not won them. He concluded by wishing them all a happy Christmas. Mr T. K. Sides', M.P., complimented the children and the teachers for the work they had done. Ho said that whenever he came to the Forbury School break-up his mind went back to the first ceremony bo attended twenty-two years ago. They had a great school, ami they were tin. corning makers of the world, and he askew them to always honor the name of their school and carry its tradition onward. Ho wished them all a happy holiday. Mr J. Wallace (chairman of the Education Board) thanked the committee for having asked him to bo present. They looked quite happy, and there was no doubt they had every reason to be so. The speaker kept Lire children entertained with some amusing stories, and in conclusion ho told them to make the most of their holidays, and wished them a happy Christmas. The Rev. Scott Allan also said a few words. A pleasing incident was tho presentation of a bouquet of red flowers by the Standard IV. pupils to their mistress, Miss Budd, which took place after the presentation of prizes. The proceedings closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
