The fake factories of Europe have been busy turning out imitations. Numerous Rubens portraits have fallen into American hands at prices ranging from 5 to 25,000 dollars, depending upon the ignorance of th<s purchaser of the fmo points of discrimination in art matters, and especially on the characteristics of Rubens's work. Tho public does not seem to want anything but Louis Philippe furniture. Heretofore tourists always wauled: Louis XV. or Louis XVI., but now’they arc, willing lo pay exceptional prices for anything of the epoch of Louis | Philippe, known until now as the "king of ■ bad taaial"
